Easy Gourmet Fried Egg With White Truffle Oil Recipe

This is a very easy gourmet fried egg recipe. It is so easy it is almost embarrassing to even call this a recipe. It is included here only because it gives you an opportunity to try white truffle oil without learning to cook something new.
- Salt and pepper the egg and cover
- With about a tablespoon of water the egg will cook on top
1 or 2 eggs
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of water
1/2 teaspoon or less of white truffle oil
This could also be done with an omelet and here a regular fried egg is used just to keep the flavors simple. By using only a fried egg then you can clearly taste the white truffle oil in the recipe. Also the addition of the white truffle oil is just drops up to a maximum of about 1/2 teaspoon. White truffle oil has a very powerful fragrance and taste which makes this an example where a little less is going to be better than a little too much.
Use a non-stick spray in the frying pan and add the egg. Crack the egg, put it in the pan and add salt and pepper. Then add a small amount of water, about 1 tablespoon and use a clear cover. The water will quickly boil and the steam will cook the top of the egg lightly. Once the yellow part of the egg appears to be a little more white then the egg is cooked and the yoke will still be liquid. Leave it in longer if you don’t want the yoke to have any liquid. After you put the egg on the plate then add drops of truffle oil and serve.
The addition of white truffle oil makes this simple fried egg into something special therefore it is suggested that you skip the bacon and grits and do something different. In this example we show sliced kiwi and brie with our fried egg. Just for fun you may wish to make two fried eggs, side by side and use white truffle oil on one egg and black truffle oil on the other.
